something different

Today we had western civ class last mod which is good because western civ class is pretty chill so we don't do much besides take notes, take tests, and do our blogs. Today in class started off pretty well bu wen slowly down hill from there. in class we began with making notes but everyone would begin talking in between slides and mr. schick began to get mad. finally mr. schick started yelling at everyone for continuing to talk even after he asked us to stop multiple times. mr. schick left the room for about 3 to 4 minutes and we continued to take notes even though we all felt bad for making him lose his temper. here are some of the notes we took in class before mr. schick got mad at us

  • A monarchy is when is single person is ruling
  • a aristocracy is when a small group of noble, very rich, landowning families rule.
  • The homeric question is if homer was a mythical creation himself.
  • polis- fundamental political unit made up of a city and the surrounding countryside.

Day after Test

Today we had western civ second to last and all we did was take more notes about Greece, some people did not finish taking notes yesterday after the test so Mr. Schick allowed whoever needed to to finish taking notes. If you had already taken all the notes from the pages in the textbook then you got to start your blog so i am doing it right now. here are some of the other notes i took yesterday after the test but never got a chance to share.

  • Climate was the third important environmental influence in greek civilization.
  • Greece had a varied climate, the temperature averaging around 48 degrees in the winter and 80 degrees in the summer.
  • In ancient times the uneven terrian made it very difficult for any of the greeks to trade with one another.
  • Greeks rarely had to travel more than 85 miles to reach the coastline.

Test on Egypt

Today we had a test on Egypt and it was pretty easy. i studied a lot over the weekend because i was expecting to have it when we came back to school on monday. Mr. Schick already posted the scores everybody got on the test and i got a 13/15 which is a 86. an 86 isn't as bad as i thought it would be which is good. after the test we were assigned textbook pages and he told us that we would need to take notes, here some of the notes i took are.

  • Ancient Greece consisted mainly of a mountainous peninsula jutting out into the Mediterranean Sea.
  • Ancient Greece also included about 2,000 islands in the Aegean and the Ionian Seas
  • The Greeks often adored their public buildings with graceful sculptures of their gods and goddesses.
  • Rugged mountains covered about three quarters of ancient Greece.
  • The mountain chains ran mainly from northwest to southeast along the balkan peninsula.
